More and more people are working from home, avoiding traffic grid lock or the constant train delays and overcrowding. The dining room table nevertheless brings its own distractions. A Phoenix office in the garden provides the perfect solution.
Use it as an office to work from home, a games room, studio, or music room; the possibilities are endless. Create an extra room, adding value and desirability to your property, at a cost that is cheaper than an extension.

Quality timber We use quality 4th redwood timber, which is a higher grade than most other manufacturers. It has minimal imperfections compared with its white wood counterpart, and all our wood comes from well managed, sustainable forests.
High specification & strength Our buildings are of the highest specification around. The uprights are spaced close together for added strength (no more than 450mm (1’6”) apart on the floor, and 600mm (2’) on the walls). The building boasts an extremely sturdy roof thanks to the use of substantial timbers and our unique roof design. All our buildings are constructed entirely from PAR timbers (planed all round) eliminating the use of sawn.
Fully customisable The doors and windows can be positioned anywhere in our buildings at no extra cost, to suit your garden.
Higher eaves The office range has a 7'2" internal eaves height, providing extra headroom, and a bigger feel.
Gutter-ready roof design The side of the roof is finished with a flat fascia and drip rail for the easy attachment of guttering.
Heavy duty felt Our buildings are supplied with heavier weight 38kg green mineral felt as standard, which can provide weather protection for in excess of 5 years.
Dealing direct with us the manufacturer You not only cut out the middle man, ensuring more of your money goes into the product, but you get the flexibility to alter virtually any aspect of the building design, just ask! (See a few of our custom designs on adjacent pages).
The office is the ultimate solution for any garden. We have made the design of the basic structure so simple, that it can be adapted easily to suit you. This can be done in terms of style, design, and size, making it extremely versatile. So what exactly can be altered?
We understand that everyone has a budget for their project. Naturally some people may want to get more involved than others. At Phoenix we cater for everyone. We can offer a complete turn-key solution, or for those more practically minded, let us simply just install the shell building. Ask a member of our sales team for a free quotation. We simply print a list of all the available options and you choose which ones you want us to do for you. We like to call it pick and mix, and are the only company locally to offer such flexibility.
What does shell building include? The shell building consists of an insulated floor with a damp proof membrane, 7'2" high walls with breather membrane paper, and holes for doors and windows. It includes a heavy duty green mineral felt roof with gutter-mountable fascias, and all the uprights on the walls and roof are spaced correctly to accept plasterboard. As with all our prices the shell building cost includes delivery and erection of the building, to provide the perfect starting point!
What’s not included in the shell building price? Doors and windows. At Phoenix we believe our customers should have a choice of doors and windows, in terms of style and sizes. We offer a wide selection for you to choose from, including wooden and U-PVC. Ask a Phoenix sales representative about the available options. (See the door and window pamphlet for our most popular ranges).
In most cases you do not need planning permission to install a Phoenix garden studio, providing it meets the following criteria:
Rules governing outbuildings apply to sheds, greenhouses and garages as well as other ancillary garden buildings such as swimming pool rooms, sauna cabins, gyms and many other kinds of structure for purpose incidental to the enjoyment of the dwelling house.
Under new regulations that came into effect on 1st October 2008 outbuildings are now considered to be permitted development, not needing planning permission, subject to the following limits and conditions:
The term ‘original house’ means the house as it was first built or as it stood on 1 July 1948.
These are guidelines, and if you are in any doubt about compliance you should contact your local planning authority before any work commences. For a fixed fee we can provide you with 1:50 scaled elevation and plan drawings to accompany a planning application.
If you need to apply for planning permission, but wish to place a deposit on a building in order to secure it at the quoted price, you can do so. Normally all deposits are non-refundable, but we take planning as an exception. If you place an order and then planning permission is refused, we will refund you deposit minus our administration costs.
Important Notes It is essential that our buildings are erected on a substantial and completely level base. If you do not provide a suitable base we will leave the building for self-assembly with the erection fee deducted, or return to erect it subject to a 20% recall charge.
All given sizes are approximate
We work on a first come, first serve basis. If you are sure that you want to place an order with us, and wish to book a delivery slot, you can do so even if you are unsure about certain aspects of the building. For example you may not have decided on the final size, or perhaps the style of doors and windows. But by putting down a 20% deposit (non-refundable) we make sure you are next in line. We then work with you to iron out the final details before delivery and erection of your building. The day before the building arrives to site you pay a further 75%, with the final 5% balance due when the building is completed and you are happy with it.
Important Note: We endeavour to get our deliveries out on the date agreed. However we cannot guarantee a delivery slot, as we rely on external suppliers for certain components of our buildings.
Exterior cladding We offer a choice of four exterior claddings which each help to achieve a desired look. The 16mm shiplap is a machine finished board, that provides a modern look with minimal maintenance. The 22mm loglap gives the appearance of half-round logs that would be associated with Scandinavian log cabins. The 25mm shiplap provides a robust finish. 35mm x 200mm tanalised rustic board is our premium cladding in thickness and longevity.
Felt tiles Apart from giving a nicer visual appearance, felt tiles are a lot more durable than our standard felt. They carry a life expectancy in excess of 20 years and are available in slate grey or red. For a more rustic look we also now offer Cambridge weather wood felt tiles (ask one of our representatives for details).
Ardesia Eco Tiles, Cedar Shingles, Clay, Concrete You may want tiling to match your house, or tiles that are in keeping with your natural surroundings. We offer three a range of roof finishes to achieve your desired look.
Guttering We can provide guttering for all our buildings. We can route gutters into an existing drain, soak away, or a water butt. Gutters are available in half-round or square-line formats, and a variety of colours and sizes.
Superior exterior finish The exterior of the building can be hand finished with two coats of Teknos royal water-based treatment. This is an environmentally friendly preservative that provides up to 5 years protection for your building. It is available in a variety of colours, and can also be provided on supply only basis.
Insulation and lining The walls and ceiling can be insulated with 50mm (2") polystyrene sheets. They can then be lined with 12.5mm plasterboard, ready for the customer to tape and fill, or skim. We also offer a range of special insulations and linings to reduce sound levels and help reduce heating costs.
Plastering Our contracted plasterers can skim you new building. This provides a professional, hassle free finish, so you can move straight in.
Internal partitions We can construct internal stud partitions to divide your new building into multiple rooms.
Electrical wiring Our contracted electrician can run cabling, install consumer units, ring circuits, lighting circuits and sockets. We can also provide wiring for large appliances and heating units.
Ground preparation, advice and drawings We can provide all the necessary groundwork in preparation for your building. Alternatively we can supply detailed base plan drawings free of charge and consult with a local ground worker of your choice to ensure the site is prepared suitably.
Site visit Not really sure what you want? Take advantage of our completely free service. Let us stand in the garden with you and give advice on size and design, before providing you with a free written quotation.
Anything else? Ask us about these or any other requirements you may have. Our buildings are so flexible we are sure to be able to accommodate all your needs.
Our guarantee to you Piece of mind is essential when buying any product. That is why at Phoenix we guarantee all of our buildings. We provide 2 years call out cover against faulty parts and workmanship, and a 5 year guarantee against rot of timber providing the building has been treated on a regular basis.
